The sky was cloudless and the most beautiful shade of rich bright blue on Mother's Day morning where I live. The somewhat cool breeze smelled fresh and clean after gentle rain showers the night before. The picture you see is of two things that I truly adore. My Lilac Tree which is an old girl of 15 and my beloved cat, Sookie who is of an indeterminate age. We adopted her 4 years ago as an adult. Sookie is as prim and proper as the tiny little trumpet shaped flowers that make up the lush bouquets on each branch. The luscious, sweet and intoxicating scent from the beautiful yet soft Violet colored blooms wafted through the air engulfing the deck on which I was seated. In a week or sooner, the perfect little flowers will be gone but, they will be replaced with sweet little green leaves that will live out their lives on sturdy branches until the first few frosts of Fall. Then they will abide by the command of the cold season to fall upon the soil surrounding it's trunk already littered with dried, decaying flowers from a long Summer.
Take the time to appreciate what is fresh and new in nature and in your own life. Look forward to changes for the positive and grow with new ideas. Be like Sookie and take a beautiful Spring morning to just sit and listen to the various bird sounds and relish in how beautiful our world really is.
